Mike Posner has been hospitalized after an unfortunate run-in with a rattlesnake on the Colorado leg of his journey to Walk Across America. He was bitten on his left ankle and had to be airlifted by a helicopter to the hospital to receive treatment. He’s doing well and getting plenty of rest!
As you may already know, Mike is currently on a mission to walk across the United States by foot. If you all remember, this is the same foot that he suffered a metatarsal stress fracture back in February 2019 before his walk which was originally set to begin on March 1st. He had to postpone it for 6 weeks and officially began his walk on April 15th in Asbury Park, NJ and is making his journey all the way to Venice Beach, CA. He is currently on mile 1,800 of 2,833, according to his Instagram bio.
We’re so glad that you’re okay, Mike. Heal up soon and keep going! We Love You!
He took to Instagram on Thursday to share a video of him in the hospital along with an explanation of what happened and when he’ll be able to resume the walk.
Whatup doe!!! Crazy day yesterday! I had just crushed 16 miles and was going for 8 more when I got bit by a baby rattlesnake! That venom is no joke! I got to the hospital and got the anti-venom in time. Shout outs to G and Mike from the chopper team and Bo and Cassie and Whitney (my nurses). I’ll be here a few days and will not be able to walk for several weeks but enjoying the AC and the nice bed, haven’t had those in a while Hahahaha! Can’t wait to get back on The Walk! KEEP GOING!!!!!!

In the Instagram video below, Mike explains why he’s doing the walk.
I’m walking because I wanted to do something hard. I wanted to do something epic. And I want my life story to read like a Hermann Hesse novel, not an instruction manual.
