Twelve contestants were chosen after an exhaustive nationwide search among 40,000 singers ages 10 to 16 to be on “Majors & Minors,” a new reality series on The Hub. One winner will be chosen and awarded $50,000, a contract with RCA Records and a featured role in a cross-country concert tour with the other contestants. Mike is 1 of the guest mentors (‘Majors’) for the cast of 12 young singers (‘Minors’) on an upcoming episode. As soon as I get the date confirmed of his appearance on the show, I’ll announce it ASAP.
Emily Kocontes, 16, was interviewed by her hometown newspaper last month. She spoke about auditioning to be on the show, how a camera crew surprised her with the news that she was 1 of the 12 selected, being mentored by music industry veterans, and all of the great advice that the guest mentors gave them all.
Posner gave the most surprising advice, Emily said.
“Mike Posner talked to us about our heroes. He asked us who they were. Then he said, ‘Let go of those heroes. You don’t want to be the next Beyoncé. You want to be the next you.’”
