Mike Posner Releases “I Went Back To Ibiza”

The wait is over. Mike Posner has officially released his new single, I Went Back To Ibiza.”

The song arrives more than a decade after his 2015 hit I Took a Pill in Ibiza,” offering a powerful new perspective on the story he first told twelve years ago. While the original track captured a moment of disillusionment and searching, I Went Back To Ibiza reflects the person Mike has become today — older, sober, grounded in faith, and focused on living a different kind of life.

Over the past few months, we first began hearing snippets of the updated lyrics as Mike shared clips on social media and performed the song live at a few events. It didn’t take long for fans to connect with the message of growth, reflection, and transformation in this new version.

Now the official release is here.

Along with the single, Mike has also released an official lyric video filmed in his new hometown of Austin, Texas. The video features Mike holding up pages of the song’s lyrics one by one as the track plays, creating a simple and intimate visual that keeps the focus on the words themselves. His fiancée, Alli Schaper, also makes a brief cameo appearance.

What began as a brutally honest song about fame and emptiness has now evolved into something entirely different — a reflection of growth, faith, gratitude, and choosing a new path forward.

“I Went Back To Ibiza” Lyrics

(Verse 1)
I went back to Ibiza
And got a hotel by the shore
But now I’m twelve years older and I’m ten years sober
And Avicii isn’t here no more
I moved outta L.A.
I’m tryna start a little family
‘Cause all the things I was taking and decisions I was making
Had me headed towards tragedy

(Pre-Chorus)
But now I really wanna live my life
Now I really wanna shine my light
You know I just wanna give what I got to the world and then go back home
‘Cause I only get this one life
So I think I’m gonna give my life up to God
‘Cause he’s got me back onstage singing
Got mе back onstage singing

(Chorus)
All I know are love songs, love songs
Darling, all I know are love songs, love songs

(Verse 2)
I’m just a human
I’m trying to do what’s true to me
But the fame and the money and the ghost of my twenties
Try to make me who I used to be
But God’s got my back, yeah
So every time I feel fear
I give thanks I’m alive, almost died two times
There’s a reason that I’m still right here

(Pre-Chorus)
You know I just wanna live my life
Now I really wanna shine my light
You know I just wanna give what I got to the world and then go back home
‘Cause I only get this one life
So I think I’m gonna give my life up to God
‘Cause he’s got me back onstage singing
Got me back onstage singing

(Chorus)
All I know are love songs, love songs
Darling, all I know are love songs, love songs (Hey)

(Instrumental)

(Chorus)
All I know are love songs, love songs
Darling, all I know are love songs, love songs
