LIVE 101.5: Lady La and JD sit down with music artist Mike Posner to discuss his new song “My Light”, his forthcoming album Pages, and his work with the Food Bank in New York City.

For four years JD has wondered how Posner does his microphone flipping trick. He revealed at a show with Big Sean they were backstage waiting to go on, and Posner learned the trick. Without thinking it just comes naturally now.

“My Light”, which recently dropped, is more than just a love song says Posner, it’s about everything. He touches on that after college he had much success, but was still feeling unhappy. Now with his new project with the Food Bank he feels like the music is bigger than himself.

For every album sold the Food Bank will donate one meal.

Lady La says “transparency is key”, because everything goes together.

Posner feels now he is doing his music for a reason, but it can be easy for him too lose sight. Even when he does lose sight he knows he is still doing good things for the food bank.

He carries around a notebook that has ideas, songs, poems, and goals in life.

His new album drops this summer tilted Pages.
