One Foot Out The Door is a 12-episode promotional web series released in 2010 alongside Mike Posner’s mixtape of the same name. Sponsored by Puma, the series follows Posner during his final semester at Duke University as he balances college life with an increasingly demanding music career. Hosted by Don Cannon and Clinton Sparks, the episodes take viewers behind the scenes as Mike travels across the country for concerts, records new music, films videos, makes television and radio appearances, and completes his final months as a college student before graduating.

EPISODE GUIDE

Episode 1 – Back to School and Off to Atlanta

Mike returns to Duke University for his senior year before heading to Atlanta to perform at Emory University. As he begins his final semester, he reflects on balancing college life with the demands of his rapidly growing music career.

Episode 2 – Wale, Virginia Tech, and Benny Blanco

After performing with Wale at Duke University, Mike travels to Virginia Tech with Benny Blanco for a packed outdoor show. The episode follows the road trip, the energetic performance, and the unexpected arrival of police that brings the party to an early end.

Episode 3 – The Making of One Foot Out The Door the Mixtape ft. Clinton Sparks and Big Sean

Mike puts the finishing touches on his One Foot Out The Door mixtape, collaborating with Clinton Sparks and Big Sean while giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the recording and production process.

Episode 4 – The Making of “Drug Dealer Girl” Video ft. Rosa Acosta

While balancing classes at Duke, Mike films the music video for “Drug Dealer Girl” featuring Rosa Acosta. The episode also captures the creative process behind the video and introduces his memorable “Hits… straight hits.” catchphrase.

Episode 5 – University of Michigan

Returning to his home state, Mike performs at the University of Michigan while reconnecting with his sister Emily and longtime friends. Between performances, he also takes part in a photoshoot with Detroit photographer Dante Marshall.

Episode 6 – Michigan State

Mike continues his Michigan trip with a performance at Michigan State University. Along the way, he reunites with old friends, interacts with fans, and surprises a group of skeptical students by proving he’s really Mike Posner with an impromptu performance.

Episode 7 – New York State of Mike

Mike spends several busy days in New York City, making his first visit to MTV, attending meetings at J Records, and opening for 50 Cent, Wale, and Kid Cudi.

Episode 8 – NYC–ACL–NYC

A whirlwind schedule takes Mike from New York City to the Austin City Limits Music Festival and back again in less than two days. The episode follows travel delays, live performances, studio sessions with Sam Hollander and Dave Katz, MTV appearances, and a sold-out CMJ showcase featuring Big Sean and other artists.

Episode 9 – Live Free or Die

Mike travels to New Hampshire to perform at Dartmouth College alongside Wale and Gym Class Heroes before continuing on to Connecticut. Along the way, he spends time with students and receives an on-camera endorsement from Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy.

Episode 10 – California Love

Mike travels to California for four performances across three nights, making stops in Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco. The episode features his University of Southern California performance filmed for Last Call with Carson Daly, media appearances, a show at The Roxy with Big Sean, and the challenges of balancing his busy schedule with returning to Duke University for midterms.

Episode 11 – Halloween

Mike continues his college tour schedule during Halloween, performing at campus events including a stop at Purdue University with Big Sean. After traveling to Arizona for Halloween, Mike returns to Duke University, where he takes a break from music to face off in a one-on-one basketball game against Duke basketball player Nolan Smith.

Episode 12 – Battle of the Blues

In the series finale, Mike wraps up his final semester at Duke University while continuing to perform on the road. The episode follows his performances at Cat’s Cradle in North Carolina with Big Sean and 2AM Club, stops at Florida Atlantic University and a Miami nightclub, and his race back to Duke to complete his final semester.
