Reflections of a Lost Teen is the debut mixtape by American singer, songwriter, and producer Mike Posner, originally released in 2006 during his senior year of high school. Mike’s journey as an artist began early—he started writing raps at just 8 years old and was producing beats on his mom’s computer by the age of 13. He wrote, recorded, and independently released Reflections of a Lost Teen, famously selling copies out of the trunk of his car. The 14-track project showcased his early blend of hip-hop and melodic songwriting, with standout tracks including “Different,” “Damn,” and “I’m Here.” Looking back on this period, Posner has described his teenage years as creatively formative but personally difficult, citing Michigan’s long winters and unhealthy habits as factors that contributed to his unhappiness. Later in 2006, he also released Reflections of a Lost Teen: The B-Sides, a 12-track companion project featuring eight additional songs and four remixes of tracks from the original mixtape.
